Louiza Blomfield
Louiza’s enchantment with the world of musical theatre ignited over two decades ago at the ANU Arts Center with Old Time Music Hall. Since then, she has embodied numerous formidable and spirited yet vulnerable characters on stage. From portraying Mary Magdeline in Jesus Christ Superstar to Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, from Sheila in Hair to Joanne in Rent, and from The Lady of the Lake in Spamalot to Karen in The Boy from Oz, her repertoire is rich and diverse. Louiza’s musical journey includes performances with big bands, choirs, and various solo endeavors, including her own Cabaret show, “Louiza with a Z,” in 2010.
Her accolades include a Canberra Area Theatre Award (CAT Award) for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Ursula in Free-Rain Theatre’s The Little Mermaid. She further showcased her talent as Dorothy Brock in Free-Rain Theatre’s production of 42nd Street, earning a CAT nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical in 2017.
In 2019, Louiza captivated audiences with her performances in Everyman Theatre’s Queers at The Courtyard Studio and The World Goes Round for Canberra Repertory Society. The year 2021 marked a milestone as she tackled one of her most significant roles yet, Donna in Mamma Mia for Free-Rain Theatre Company. Despite the challenges, the production finally graced the stage, with Donna standing as Louiza’s most substantial role to date.
Returning to Everyman in 2022, Louiza delighted audiences as one of the party singers in The Importance of Being Earnest at ACT Hub, followed by a brief stint at Goulburn Performing Arts Centre. She is delighted to have the opportunity to reprise her role in Queers before she embarks on yet another round of performances in Earnest. Louiza’s journey through the world of musical theatre continues to captivate and inspire audiences, showcasing her immense talent and dedication to her craft.
