Andrea Garcia (she/her)
As a descendent of the Páez people from the Cauca Valley in southwestern Colombia, Andrea is honoured to be making her debut at the ACT Hub in the role of Native American Johnna Monevata in the much-anticipated production of August: Osage County. In 2023, she also played the role of Anita in the iconic musical West Side Story with Dramatic Productions.
Andrea’s involvement in Canberra’s theatre community has included studying at Mockingbird Acting Studio and performing in the inaugural Mockingbird Student Ensemble (MuSE) production Dancing at Lughnasa as Kate Mundy. She has also been a member of the tech crew at Canberra REP, supporting the backstage lighting and sound operations of various productions.
A native of Colombia, Andrea has a life-long passion for theatre. Before calling Canberra home, Andrea lived in New York City where she earned a Master of Arts in Theatre at Hunter College of the City University of New York followed by the Two-Year Conservatory at The Acting Studio – New York, where she performed in productions of the Studio’s Chelsea Repertory Company.
